Sad to hear of the passing of Bernard Hill. Many will know of him as King Theoden in Lord of The Rings but for me if there was ever a performance that could be called iconic, it was Bernard Hill as Yosser Hughes, a man who had lost everything.
Mental health wasn’t really talked about back then, but his portrayal of a man who’s life was destroyed by Thatcherism in the 80's was an important representation of what 1,000s of men were suffering, and suffering in silence.
But let's not forget his many other roles in Titanic, Wolf Hall, Golden Years, Shirley Valentine to various documentary voice overs.
RIP Bernard Hill💔
